Ever since I can remember, August has been one hot, sweaty blur. When I was young, August was “back to school” time, and preparations for each new year got sandwiched in between final summer vacations, parties, and cheer practice. Now that I am older, it still seems as if everything ramps up for the coming of the fall and I can barely keep up.
Things are still trucking along here at L Bee and the Money Tree (LBMT as we affectionately call it in our email chains) and while I am happy to let my staff writers continue to do their thang, I hired on a new virtual assistant, Chelsea. She is awesome, and wonderful and makes my life so much easier. Now I have someone around to help tackle all of those “blog maintenance” projects I’ve been putting off since January! I also incorporated my freelance writing endeavors and blog income and have been (slowly) piecing together a website for my freelance writing projects as well, and a wedding website. And some stuff on Starter Home Diaries gets done here and there too, but LBMT is still my main squeeze.
I’ll probably get around to all those other sites sometime in October or November, but in the meantime if you need any help with a writing/blog project just email me. I’ve gotten three really fantastic and interesting clients this month, so keep em’ coming! Getting an LLC and EIN is one in about a thousand steps lately that have made me feel like more of an adult, and that my life is finally (FINALLY!) coming together.
Blogging is like owning a home I’ve found, your work is never done! Speaking of our home, things are going pretty swimmingly there as well. I was featured on Channel 2 News because of our home renovation in the neighborhood to help bring awareness to the down payment assistance programs in the city of Atlanta. It was pretty dang cool to have the film crew come out and tour the house with me. I hope this puts me one step closer to my bucket list dream of having my own HGTV show. You can view the video here.
And last but not least, I am shoring up my presentations for the two conferences I am speaking at this Fall. The Smart Money Chicks Summit in September, and my presentation on social media for beginners at the annual Financial Bloggers conference #FinCon. Want to come to Fincon either as a blogger or to support L Bee? Click on the link below to purchase your ticket!
The Plutus Awards also happen each year at FinCon and these are the PINNACLE for bloggers in my genre. It would mean the world to me if you could go and vote for LBMT in any of the categories you feel so inclined.
Even though I’m kindof in a weird spot for the award timeline wise, I’m really vying for Best New Blog. I was a little *too* new last year, and now I’m a bit older than most everyone else, but that’s OK. I still feel very passionate about the new style Moneytree brings to personal finance and lifestyle writing and hope you feel the same as well. Please go vote, because it would literally mean the world.
LOOK AT THAT FACE. You know you want to vote.
What have you accomplished this August?
