Ways to Save Money On Valentine’s Day…

It’s the rainiest, dreariest Thursday EVER again here today. February is the shortest month because it is the suckiest month. You can quote me on that. I suppose that is why Valentine’s Day is in the middle of February, to lift spirits and pull people out of the fog, at least for one night.  I’m not sure if I’m a romantic or not, but I DO know I often don’t celebrate Valentine’s Day. And by “celebrate” I mean with roses, candles and a fancy date etc. Normally it’s just Tacky Jackie and I splitting a bottle of wine at a restaurant. So read on for my best tip for ways to save money on Valentine’s Day.

My Best Tip for Ways to Save Money on Valentine’s Day

I don’t know why I can’t muster up any excitement for St. Valentine’s, even though there is heavy use of my favorite color, pink. I’m all for letting people know how much they mean to you, I just think some of the over-the-top gestures are a little silly. I’d prefer to be appreciated in small ways, every day. And grand gestures make me more uncomfortable than anything else.

So I guess that would be my best money saving tip for Valentine’s Day-don’t celebrate it at all! Muaaahahahahaha!

  1. I am not big on V day either, we will maybe make a nicer than usual dinner, and there will definitely be some wine! Apart from that, a pretty usual day.

  2. I think the day is over-commercialized and unnecessary. My wife and I just celebrate on a different day by making dinner and enjoying each others company.

  3. I have an amazing trick that I play every year-I never have a boyfriend on Valentine’s Day! Always after. It works really well as I never have to purchase Valentine’s day gifts.

  4. During Valentines Day, I am just contented with eating chocolates and ice-cream at home with my loved ones.

  5. I agree Lauren. Valentine’s day always has the feeling of guilting you into buying stuff. This works well for those that never do anything meaningful for their spouse or girlfriend/boyfriend on the other 364 days of the year.
